Not only can you save energy and money when you replace with more efficient equipment, you may be eligible for Brown County REA rebates if you purchase Energy Star products.
Rebates of $100 or less will be paid as a bill credit and rebates over $100 will be paid by check, unless you request a bill credit
Enjoy the best of both worlds with an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) which provides home cooling and heating with 72% less electricity than conventional air conditioner and furnaces.
Rebates are available when you install an ASHP or Hybrid System and it is placed on load control with a non-electric or storage backup. The heat pump rebates are based on Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) or new standard equivalent (HSPF2) coupled with a minimum 14.3-SEER rating. Enhanced residential rebates will be offered all year as funds remain.
Load Controlled with whole house non-electric backup (Dual Fuel eligible) minimum requirements:
- High Efficiency 14.3 SEER2 and 7.5 HSPF2 $1,500 rebate
- Premium Efficiency 16 SEER2 and 8.5 HSPF2 $2,000 rebate
Not Load Controlled (Electric backup allowed, No Reduced Rate) minimum requirements:
- High Efficiency 14.3 SEER2 and 7.5 HSPF2 $750 rebate
- Premium Efficiency 16 SEER2 and 8.5 HSPF2 $1,000 rebate

Installing a new Energy Star certified Geothermal Heat Pump qualifies for $400 per ton rebate. When it is placed on load control with a whole house storage or non-electric backup heat source it qualifies for a $500 bonus rebate.
Replacing a Geothermal Heat Pump unit qualifies for a $1,000 rebate.

Energy Star Ductless Mini Split Heat Pumps can efficiently heat and cool your home.
- Up to 1 ton, minimum 7.5 HSPF2 and 14.3 SEER2 $150 rebate
- Greater than 1 ton, minimum 7.5 HSPF2 and 14.3 SEER2 $300 rebate
- Greater than 1 ton, minimum 8.0 HSPF2 and 16.0 SEER2 $500 rebate
Rebate paid per outdoor condensing unit. Rebate not to exceed 50% of unit cost.

Members who install a new furnace with an Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM) can receive a $25 rebate. Must be ENERGY STAR certified. This is the only rebate the BCREA offers on furnaces.

Upgrade to an Energy Star WiFi/Smart Thermostat for your heating and cooling equipment and receive a $25 rebate.

Complete the tune-up checklist portion on the Heating & Cooling rebate form (link below) and include a copy of the bill from the contractor to receive a $25 rebate.
Only eligible for this rebate every two years and unit must be at least three years old to qualify.
Brown County REA will pay the cost to install a load control receiver or to connect existing receiver to central air conditioner or heat pump unit and receive a $50 rebate.
Refrigerator or Freezer with recycling: Must be Energy Star rated. Minimum 7.7 cu. ft. Recycling of old unit required to qualify. $75 rebate available when you must submit proof of purchase, Energy Star certification, proof of recycling, and rebate form found below. No rebate is given if the old unit wasn't recycled.
Clothes Dryer: To receive $25 rebate you must submit proof of purchase, Energy Star certification, and rebate form found below.
Dehumidifier: To receive $25 rebate you must submit proof of purchase, Energy Star certification, and rebate form found below.
Receive a $30 rebate for a member-owned LED yard light that is (40 watt or higher).
Limit one rebate per member.
Submit proof of purchase with model number and wattage to receive rebate.
Lighting rebate is only offered on retrofit projects (no new construction).
